Puerta Sagua Cuban Sandwich: as good as it gets! Benjamin had been asking about easing Cuban food while in Miami so we found this place online and gave it a whirl. First off, this whole town is hopping with Spring Break attendees! We had to carefully drive our minivan down the narrow streets without hitting any Ferrari's or Porsch's that the rich young people were driving. (We did blast some party music on our stock speakers with the windows down and the sunroof open). Parking was non-existent and we eventually found a parking ramp. The stroll to the restaurant allowed us to see the vibrant liveliness of the city.
At the restaurant, we seated ourselves as the sign indicated and didn't have to wait long for our server. Mike had a Cuban beer while Ben had a Coke. Jaden & Caleb each had lemonade to drink and everyone had some water too. (It was 86 degrees and sunny). Mike ordered a larger Cuban sandwich & plantains, Benjamin had a large Cuban & fries, Sandy had the pulled pork, Jaden had King Fish, and Caleb had coconut shrimp with mango dipping sauce which he enjoyed. The meal was fantastic! Not something you'd expect from this "hole-in-the-wall" restaurant. Well worth the trip.
Here's the online recipe if you want to try to make your own. I know we will. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/puerto-sagua-cuban-sandwich-recipe.html
